Linking Learning to Primary 1

The children have been learning alongside St Fergus Primary School about the sea shore as part of their transition across the early level . They have been using items they would find on the beach, sand, shells and pebbles to make transient art pictures. The children are going to show photographs of their pictures to the boys and girls in Primary One on their next school visit.

All over the papers

Our children have been researching the various skills needed to create a newspaper since October of last year.

Over time they have acquired the skills and knowledge needed to be part of the journalism world. The children practised these skills when Bill Leckie, a journalist from 'The Sun' newspaper came to visit. They were able to interview him, take the notes needed to create their story and capture the opportunity they had in photographs to report the event in their newspaper, the 'Ferguslie News'.

We are very proud of what our children are learning and we can see how they apply this in their play opportunities throughout the nursery environment.

Welcome To The Rainbow Café

The children within the 3-5 room have their own cafe open for business once every month. They have spent a long time researching what they wanted it to look like and developing the skills needed to carry out the roles to enable them to work in it.

The cafe sells freshly baked scones and cakes with tea and coffee, the children provide a waitress service and are very attentive to the needs of the customers. They have a pricing policy that makes their business very competitive whilst giving them the opportunity to buy the arts and crafts they have designed and created for the home.

The Rainbow Cafe will be open for business again on Friday 22nd April from 9.30 - 10.30 am. We look forward to welcoming our friends, family and community on your next visit and thank you for supporting our early entrepreneurial project.
